In 2012, Hudson Catholic made a commitment to the DFC to play in the 2013 event. When it came time for scheduling, none of the teams we presented were compatible with HC; so they dropped out. We learned later that they had overbooked their allotted number of games and that was the reason they couldn’t play. Over the course of the past 4 years, we have been asked hundreds of times why Hudson Catholic, a school that is literally across the street from the Jersey City Armory, was not part of the DFC. I am sure that HC was asked an equal number of times. Reasons that have been bantered about include the DFC being a fundraiser for another school; HC didn’t sell enough tickets to warrant being invited back; etc.
A few months ago, HC again gave an enthusiastic commitment, in front of a room full of people, to be invited back to DFC 2017 after a 4 year hiatus. When it came time for scheduling again there was a problem. Can’t play out of State team; not sure if we will be non-public a or b; couple of teams that we don’t get along with; etc. A familiar refrain. We found a compatible opponent only to be told that HC had accepted an invitation to play elsewhere.
So, we move on!!!
